    Hey people,
My envy 14 (i5, 1xxx) has been booting up with an error about my fan not working properly and a thermal shutdown. Thing is, I've never seen it thermally shut down. And I can hear the big fan properly. not sure about the other one(s) though. Also, the CPU rarely breaks like 65C, so I'm not sure if the fan actually is broken or if something else is at work.

Basically: How hot should my CPU run? And even if my fan's broken, if I keep the laptop under like 70C, should the hardware all be okay?

    Thanks!

bump, more info: this happens (the thermal shutdown message appears) after I put my laptop to sleep and turn it back on. If I do a shutdown or hibernate it doesnt happen.

It simply means that when your laptop is under sleep mode, you probably placed it in an area that causes the temperature to reach 105C, the threshold before thermal shutdown.
