does anyone know how i can extract the .inf from the .exe oh HP's sata driver.

    winrar doesnt do it

im trying to slipstream the driver using nlite but i cant find the .inf!?!?

does anyone else think its funny that HP makes a driver for dv9000 that actually says, "this driver can only be used with a diskette drive" yet they dont put floppy drives in these machines... who comes up with this stuff.

    thanks ahead

If you have the device installed (as in you have the system with the driver you want running), you can just get the names of the files using Device Mananger, properties for the device, driver tab, driver details button.. will give you path/name so you can go grab them.

Could also use a tool like this to extract the drivers...

Third option is to find the temporary directory that is created when you click the EXE, and copy the files from there..

    Hope that helps..

    thanks guys!

im running vista64 now so i can t really copy files from the setup or use device manager right?

eventually i want to be able to dual boot with an xp lite of some sort for games. games have totally suffered since the vista installation, which is a bummer.

checking out the zip file now

Won't work on 64bit systems, but for those running 32bit, Virtual Floppy Drive is a must have. Well, that is if you need to extract files from a floppy image and don't have a floppy drive. Freeware.

There is a 64bit driver link towards the end of the page which supposedly works. Might be worth a try.
