    nothing wrong with AMD, they are good performers, but the intel chip is just faster.

    you probably will have a better chance of running the game u want on the AMD machine as that has a better graphics card but both are integrated which means they use system RAM and are not really designed for graphics intensive games.

    if the extra weight of the 17" screen doesnt bother you and you aren't using it for decoding videos then the AMD machine is better. if u think it is too heavy cuz of its larger screen or if you are going to decode videos and other CPU intensive tasks then the intel is your choice.

    for web surfing, word processing, listening to music, watching movies and the rest, any one of them will do.

    I would go for the AMD though, $100 more for 17", a better graphics solution and twice the RAM.

    From what I heard Intel does process faster but for gamers AMD beats Intel. Hold off on Vista for now if you're going gaming unless you tweak the program to XP compatability

    kanehl, no that was true of the older generations of CPUs. Today, intel's C2D is faster than AMD X2 in all applications.
