Whenever I watch a movie or a video of some sort on my laptop, I always hear this ticking noise in the background. It ticks every few seconds and bugs me like crazy.

What's making it tick? What's wrong?

It also happens when I listen to music on my Samsung MP3 player.

    Help?

it might be the HDD heads moving
is it coming from the speakers or is it mechanical noise?

It's not a "click" sound of the hard drives, but more of a "tick" sound from the speakers.

Only happens when watching movies / videos or listening to music. As far as I can tell, not when playing games.

    i think thats interference
click the sound icon in the system tray and click mixer
then turn down the system sound and turn the sound of the video/music application up

Tried it again with System Sound all the way down, and I still here the ticks...

It sounds like the sounds when you press the QuickLanch buttons, if that helps.

Seems to happen with footsteps? And other "thump"-ish noises I guess...I don't know.
