I always wanted to try one of these modified, "tiny" or "ultimate" windows on my desktop PC, but now - after purchasing a HP 8510p laptop - I am really thinking to try one of them. (To have an idea what I am talking about, check these links bellow:

Because I do not really have any experiences about these OS' and I heard that none all of these versions are compatible with the laptops, I would like to ask you guys, who maybe have had some experience about it and has a laptop as well, to share your thoughts, experiences about it.

    Thanks in advance.

i don't have time to check each one out, but they are usually a modified version of the os, smaller because they usually have some components removed, languages, etc. They are generally pre-activated(cracked) and are not legal versions.....

None are legal and are based on XP pro Student or corporate Volume license keys.

But if you have your own copy of xp you can trim it down using N-lite. That's how these things are made.

Incidentally, you can do the same for Vista. It's called Vlite. You'll find a link to it on the Nlite website.
