Suddenly noticed this last night on my nc6320...a tiny white dot on a black background. I thought it might be a stuck or hot pixel but on closer inspection with a magnifying glass it actually looks smaller than a single pixel.

I've double checked this with UDP and run the 1x1 pixel flash size next to it and it's definitely smaller. I did have my machine in for a bluetooth repair but I'm pretty certain the screen wasn't touched. There's no dust or marks on the screen. So what's occuring?

I've tried a screen massage and that didn't change anything. I'm now running UDP in 5x5 flash.

    Can anyone give some pointers?

Can you take a picture of your screen and show us where this white dot is?

Could it be dust behind the screen?

Not sure my camera is good enough to pick it up it is literally that small but I'll give it a shot.

Could well be dust, the bezel on the side (right) is not fixed down as well as it probably should be and you can see some light from the side in a couple of places.

Ok I've managed to get a couple of decent images

Here with a UndeadPixel 1x1 flash underneath...see it's smaller than a single pixel.

Same as above but with mouse pointer to the side.

From this I'm thinking it's a trapped dust speck. Not sure whether it can be shifted though.

    Wow that's small.
I can't really say for sure but my guess would probably be trapped dust.

If you really can't live with it there you could try to remove it (remove the screen and all). But since it is so small I'd probably put up with it.

Yeah I said it was tiny..I guess that's why it took me by surprise. I've got one dead pixel on my old Tosh that appeared after three years and I've seen grey blotches of pixels on another machine and a watercolour effect on another. Nothing ever similar to this though.

Although I'm that sort of picky person, as it can only be seen with a black (or very dark) background and I have no desire to invalidate the warranty so I'll leave it as is.

My only concern is the further likelyhood of dust getting behind the bezel.
