 Hi all u hp owners...since u guys are the most familiar with hp's build quality and performance, could u guys please help me choose between:

    1. hp nx9420
    Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T7400 (2.16 GHz)
    17.0-inch WSXGA+ display
    100GB hard drive (7200 rpm)
    1024MB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM

    $2130

    or

    2. hp 8000t
    Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2500 (2.0 GHz)
    17.0" WXGA+ Ultra BrightView Widescreen (1440x900)
    256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600
    2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM
100 GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive

    $1815

is hp's business line quality, x1600, and core 2 duo processor is more worth it than the 8000s extra gig of ram, 300 cheaper, and much nicer look?

for t hose of u 8000t/nx9420 owners, i would really really appreciate your input. thanks so much everyone

Personally, i think hp nx9420 is the one you should probably go for because of only 1 reason i see and thats 7200 RPM which is superfast and also, the core 2 duo. In my opinion, i'd stick with Core Duo cause there arent much difference between Core Duo or Core 2 Duo. But go with the hp nx9420 cause it has 7200 rpm.

More Details? Please let me know

um they both have 7200 rpm, so there goes that idea, but besides that i'd go for the nx9420 because it has core 2 duo and also because it has a higher speed on the processor... which is a difference of $168 from the t7200 which is a core 2 duo version of the t2500... so thats around an approximately $200 upgrade right there... also the ram you should leave it at 512, and buy the ram stick upgrade separately from newegg or wherever... that will lower your cost on the ram. for the approximate upgrade cost of 2x256 to 2x512 could buy you a 1x1gb on newegg or other websites... have 1 dimm slot free for future upgrade to 2x1gb and have the 2 x 256mb's available to play with or sell on ebay... the biggest difference however is the difference in the screens. the nx one is wsxga whereas the dv 8000t is wxga. the wsxga has much greater desktop "real estate" than the dv 8000t and is better for gaming/larger desktop screen for more icons etc... besides that it looks great!

oh and if it comes standard with 1gb... you could always sell those! and get them as 1gb dimms... upto you!

Of course there is the one year warranty versus the three year warranty.

humm.....not sure where you're getting the dv8000t pricing, but you can spec one out like that on the HP website for $1525, after the $250 coupon code that's running now and the $50 rebate. I think dv8000t price are in freefall because they don't have core 2 duo's yet, and maybe bad press on the keyboards slowing sales. They have alot of free upgrades on custom setups....the upgrade to 1 gig of ram was $75 yesterday, now it's free.

Depends on what your needs are. The dv8000t screen is incredible. It also has both PCMCIA and ExpressCard slots.

i don't have the nx notebook, but i do have the nc8430...it has a similar build quality. i would have to say that it is built far better than the dv8000 or dv9000.
