    Hello!

I bought used laptop and I have something to ask.
My laptop is: HP Pavilion G3000.
It has Intel Celeron 1,6 GHz CPU, one core, no HT.
1 MB L2 cash in the CPU. Yonah...
From what i understood, being Celeron and NOT a Pentium don't matter too much. My impression (correct me if I'm wrong) is that its more of a marketing difference. Say, once I had a PIII CPU with only 512 K of L2 cash. I think it was 400 MHz Klamant... I read also that Yonah is more powerful than Pentium M. Something I don't get...If the speed is relatively low (1,6 GHz), then how its more powerful. Or is it like with Athlon...but then in my CPU's case-how much it would be after + (+3000, 2500 etc.) ?
About RAM...even more complicated...I have 2 identical memory chips (DDR2 Kingston SO-DIMM, of course, one is 1 GB and another is 2 GB). So totally I have 3 Gigs, but from what I understood only 2 Gigs are being actually used by Windows (7 Pro-swedish ed.). I also think that they work in a dual channel mode (again, how come if the size are different-meaning 1 GB vs. 2GB)?
I think I read somewhere abot max. installable RAM or something...I don't know how crucial (probably not) it would be for me to use that ''hidden'' GB of RAM...but...as they say, there's never too much RAM!
Also I hardly made work a powered USB hub. Since I only have 2 USB ports in the machine, I wanted to add USB ports.
I purchased a powered USB hub (7 ports). It was recognized OK, but when I tried to use it, I got error messages that something is wrong and there's an unidentified device etc.
I tried to Google it and I found few solutions (none of them worked, except one)... I had to disable power management in root hubs...Again, I had that strange error, but when I disabled and uninstalled that unknown device, everything got under control. Anybody has an idea what its all about?
Another issue is couple of missing keys...I use an external keybord that I put on top of the laptop keybord (BTW, is it OK?)...Keybord is very light and sensitive(so I don't have to use force while typing)...but still...extra weight...ventilation issues perhaps? I could still use laptop's keyboard, but I'm not sure if hitting an empty spot where the key used to be is safe (for me or a laptop? ). What could be a solution to missing keys problem? I read that on ebay they sell keys for my type of laptop...?
Also I tried to find out about the video card...From what I understood (again, correct me if I'm wrong), this laptop has only an integrated solution which uses up to 128 MB of Turbo-Cache video memory. Basically kinda nothing :-(
    In SisoftSandra it says ''GM950M''
The laptop has PCIe bus, but I never heard of any video card upgrade in laptops (is it so? )
Last, but not least...the laptop has a very nice monitor.
I THINK (?) its this one:
Display 15.4” WXGA High Definition BrightView Widescreen (1280 x 800) ...The only thing I know for sure is that it is a widescreen monitor since its the only thing written on it.
And its really of of newer type of laptop monitors (not like those 7-8 yo ones)...There was one video that I think was pre-installed with OS, something about animals...it looks REALLY REALLY great. Not something you could see in older laptops. So maybe its really a HD?
In short, my last question is:
is there a way to find out what type of monitor is on a laptop?

download a decent pc inventory program like those available from the cpuz people or everest (there are others).

run the utility and capture that inventory data.

post results here. the complete results without editing on your part. screen grabs are fine.

Otherwise, any advice people give you will be 100% guesses.
