    Hello =)

    How can I test whether my TS-L802A is faulty? It does not read some CD-R disks that my other machine does read.

    Any tools to test it?

    Thanks!
    Stephen

    does it have problems reading other items too? If you can prove it has problems reading other items like DVDs then it is almost 80-90% faulty

    Nope, it's a little slow, but it does read it.

    Assuming you mean that you have tested them and they have never worked would have been my first sign the drive is faulty.....

    Hi

    Try this:
    First, ensure the notebook is on a level place like a table, and try the CD.

    If it doesn't pick, then reboot with the CD in the drive.
    It should pick or attempt to (hear a sound from the drive)

    If nothing happens (you hear a sound but it doesn't read) then try to carefully adjust/trim the pot. at the side of the lens.( pls. note that if you're under a warranty do not do this and take it to them, i.e seller/Toshiba)

    I think you should first get back to us before trimming the pot, if you've not done it before, or in any case, because you must be careful not to damage the lens & other things.

    I have just burnt a CD of images.

    Put the CD back into my drive, and its making sounds like a printer.... constantly and the thumbnails are loading very slowly, one by one.... making my laptop go very slowly as well.

    Does this confirm there is a fault?

    Thanks
