This recent price drop for the HP TouchPad is pretty decent! What are some of the things you think the TouchPad lacks, or has that's better than the competition? By the way, if you ever want to order from HP Direct, call me!
Good, bad, ugly?

I've played around abit with one, currently, while in a BestBuy. I was indeed impressed with the overall power and speed as it opened apps. The organization of how the OS is laid out was nice. Everything seemed straight-forward and easy to find. One thing that I personally, have always been a fan of with any "touch" product, is the inclusion of some sort of physical stylus. One that tucks or sheaths itself in the tablet. Also interested to know if WebOS can import contact information from PC's that use Outlook.
Other than that, I have not heard of or seen in an app store, any well-known security suites. I can't imagine that, as young as this OS is, there are many targeted threats - but call it "peace of mind" if you will. Would be nice if something by Juniper, Symantec, Kaspersky or McAffe emerged to fill the void. Something for the standard consumer and made for a stand-alone client. -
Thanks for the heads up, your opinion is well laid out. Thanks Iza!

Don't lose any sleep over this, HP just dropped webOS, so that ship has sailed.

HP drops the TouchPad only one week after offerring it up to its valued employees at a 50% discount, asking them to be a "proud brand ambassador and advocate of the new HP TouchPad".
What they were excited to be a part of 7 days ago is now just an embarassment they want to return. -
-
That and rumor has it that AT&T found out about the WebOS thing the same time everyone else did, they had to cancel their Pre3 launch plans.
HP's not making any friends in both consumer and business, in the way they're handling this. -
Poor Paul. I want to buy the guy a pint now.

HP begins TouchPad clearance with $99 fire sale
AppleInsider | HP begins TouchPad clearance with $99 fire sale -
The bottom has truly fallen out. One has to wonder, if HP considered this earlier maybe more developers would have supported webOS. It is a shame really.
-
They probably sold more TouchPads in the last few hours than in the last few months.
-
Edit, out of stock at any Future Shop within 100km of me, and sold out on the website. That makes it easier to resist. -
Is a $99 TouchPad a good deal? It will depend on whether you can root it for Android, because WebOS is dead, dead, dead.....
-
With the influx of users, there may be better support from developers. Or a port to Android. -
I'm 99% confident that XDA Developers will have an Android port for this.
Check Craigslist over the next few days for $100 slightly used Touchpads from rueful buyers.
At $100, I wouldn't mind too much even if Android never makes it way onto the device. If nothing else, you have an e-mail/web browser with an IPS screen for the price of a decent photo frame. -

Hey, I'm just curious if anyone who's ordered one from HP has gotten an email confirmation. I just ordered a pair of them, got the confirmation webpage, but no email as of yet...
-
Well - I suppose no one ever has to worry about the OS ever being targeted for hacking.
What really sucks is that I was one of those eagerly awaiting the HP Pre3. Suppose I'll just migrate back over to the Blackberry Triton whenever (if ever) they release that. -

I ordered one from there during the week of the firesale, however, later in the week I received notification that I was backordered and still have not received another updated.
