The main reason why I got my new dv2000t was because when I visit folks back east I want to have a computer with me. Unfortunately, that means getting on a plane, which means going through security. Since, for some unknown reason, most airports require you to expose your laptop to the elements and place it in a tray on it's own to be thrashed around through an x-ray machine it seems like dinging and scratching is invevitable. My old Dell had a matte finish so this was never a problem but with the high gloss of my new HP I'm concerned.
Is this true? Does anyone have any positive/negative experiences at airports they would like to share?
Thanks!

In my experience, it depends on how YOU handle it. Just place it at the front of the box so it doesn't slide forward when it goes downhill at the end of the belt. It's rare for a TSA employee to touch a laptop -- unless you forget to take it out of your carry on. TSA will go over it with a fine tooth comb if you don't put it in a separate box.

HP does claim that the Imprint Finish gives about 20% more scratch resistance I believe.
But in response to ur topic. All scratches are inevitable really.
Just depends on how you handle it, just try to place it carefully in the box and position it so it doesnt slide down and hit the box corners. -
Thanks for the replies and advice. I will remember to put the notebook in the front corner of the tray so it doesn't slide too much. Excellent suggestion by the way.
Yes, I know scratches are inevitable in general and I'm ok with that. However, I like to take care of my things and keep them in as good condition as possible. I'd hate for my notebook to get a noticable mark so early on. -
I've owned my dv2000 going on 4 months, and there are NO scratches what-so-ever on it.
And it's gone with me to school, work, and on 2 commercial airline rides with me already. -
I ust came back from vacation and my laptop still is in good shape (No Scratches). Like the person above said place the laptop in the top front of the tray so it doesn't slide
Traveling with a dv2000t, scratches inevitable?
