I was trying out Ubuntu the other day, and noticed a neat little task-bar tool that looked at lot like the Windows volume control in the system tray. It controlled the LCD brightness, in the same way as using the Fn brightness keys.

Is there such a thing for Windows? Or, failing that, a way to map the Fn brightness keys to something I can use from an external keyboard?

If you have Vista you can hit [Windows key] + [X] to open the mobility center and adjust the brightness from there.

If your LCD panel supports it,

RMclock > Performance on demand subprofile

Click the OS settings on the top > On the bottom it should say LCD brightness settings.
