I use to be able to watch recordered DVD movies on my old laptop with Windows Media Player, but haven't been able to with my new laptop.
The DVD Movies are DVD+R and the Drive is DVD+R.

What do you mean by that? Codec needed or anything else? How come they don't play?
-
It's not recognizing the disk in the drive
-
Recorded on what? Is it a movie you copied? Was it recorded from a DVR?
If the DVD wasn't finalized that may cause a problem. Can you go to Computer and right click on the drive and select open? Does it show two folders Audio TS and Video TS?
Try to find a program called DVDShrink (free) and use it to copy the disk to another DVD. -
