You go looking for trouble and your bound to find it. When my desktop had trouble with a DXDIAG sound issue, I thought surely my laptop NX9420 would be alright. Well it wasn't.

I was able to fix my desktop by installing a older sound driver other then the latest which isn't always the best.

    My laptop isn't so lucky.

If you run DXDIAG - SOUND and I want to know if your LAPTOP runs through all the sound samples or like mine, stops at the forth one and say your sound card does not support hardware buffering According to Real tek which this isn't I know, its a soundmax, its no big deal. According to Microsoft, they say replace your sound card.

So none of you guys looking on this forum can say they ran the same test and it either worked or didn't work!

    NX9420 or not....preferably NX9420

Talking to HP, they want me to send it in. So I guess they do think this is a problem.

Thanks to all those that tested their system to let me know IF they had this same issue. I really appreciated it.

So HP said it was a problem and I sent it in and just got it back with a note saying they identified the problem to be a software issue and hence restored my system to its original state.

Guess what, it still does the same thing. I can't enable EAX and I'm pretty dog gone sure it did before and DXDIAG won't go past the 4th sound test before reporting my sound card does not support hardware buffering,
