Ok this is seriously weird. I was running prime95 to test system stability and checked out the clock speed of the computer. To my horror it said only 1.6GHz when this is supposed to be a 1.8GHz chip. Whats going on here?

Do you have your settings in the Windows power management set to "Full Power"? Anything other than that, and your CPU will be downclocked to help preserve battery life.
-
Just checked, there is no Full Power mode in the power schemes. -
That's odd - there should be a power setting like that. However, your setting at Portable is probably slowing down the CPU to conserve energy (even though you're not mobile right now). Try setting your power scheme to the highest possible performance level (ex: Max Performance, Full Power, etc.)

Full Power = Desktop/ Always On Mode in the power Schemes.

Hollywood, Are you running RMClock or some other sort of undervolting software?
If yes, then it could be causing a conflict with AMD drivers. Setting Windows to "Always On", and lettting RMClock manage the processor should fix the problem.
If you don't use RMClock, try re-installing the AMD processor driver. -
Check your BIOS.(press F10 when you see the Compaq splash screen). What does that list your cpu clock speed as?
-
his multipler is at x8, either his fsb speed is running low or the multipler should be at x9
-
CPUz detects ML-32 so it is 1.8 ghz. Fill2k asked wheter you are using RMclock - if yes (otherwise why would you have Prime95
), then check the p-state transitions and you should have all the multipliers between x4 and x9. If you have set it to x8 it will run at 1.6ghz.
P.S
btw, just in case you are using RMclock, don't mess RMclock and Windows power schemes because your laptop will crash quite often (should be at Always On). -

You are plugged in and not on battery? The default power management usually puts a lower upper limit on clockspeed while on battery to save power, usually 1.6GHz.
Using RMclock or CrystalCPUID to undervolt is a good idea in general, but especially when the default power management isn't working quite right. -
I dont have RMClock or CrystalCPUID installed or any program of that type. What it was doing was that it only runs at 1.6GHz when unplugged but if you plug it in and its at 100% it automatically goes to 1.8GHz. Is there a way to make it run at 1.8GHz off the batteries? If im playing a game or something I woul d need all the processing power.

Use RMClock to manage your power and set your Power Scheme to "Always On" to disable the default PowerNOW! power management. You can configure RMClock to do whatever you want, including undervolt (which will be a BIG help for gaming battery life).

RMClock works great, if you're into undervolting. However, for most people, the AMD drivers is okay.
