So, on June 22, Turion cpu notebook model L2000 aka Lance Armstrong Special Edition will "replace"/upodate the dv1000 - with 14" widescreen ... but no remote control and maybe no dvd-only mode.
The base model price is $899, perhaps subject to student discount.
Are Turion benchmarks available, or *guessable* e.g. video and concurrent processes (with current WinXP, not next year's)?
Pros, cons of Turion vs. Centrino?
Reliability of a new HP notebook?

I spoke with somebody from hpshopping and this laptop is eligible for the student discount, which ranges from 6% to 10%. From what most people gather about this laptop is that it's basically the compaq v2000 with the turion in it and a little hp flair. I tried to get some more information from HP but they told me they didn't have anymore available than what's on their site.

It's a little more than that. The ATI shared memory video (same as the zv6000 but without the dedicated memory option) is MUCH better than Intel's shared memory GPU, and the new Broadcom WiFi card should be significantly better than Intel's.
CPU benchmarks should be about the same as an Athlon 64 at the same clockspeed. Fast, anyhow.
I'm not sure which direction I want to go, a L2000 thin-and-light with an external monitor at home or one of the new Clevo 17" widescreens with Radeon X800 XT's and (optionally) Athlon 64 X2's that they showed off at Computex? -
there is no doubt that there is more to it under the the case. I personally can't wait for it to come out. I just wonder if HP is going to incorporate the ExpressCard54 card slot as an option.
Turion vs. dv1000, dv4000, specs?
