Does anyone know of a way to turn just the blue light off on the webcam but still have the camera on?
I have looked under device manager but there is no option ther I can see.
Was thinking of a registry edit maybe or possibly under setup at boot.
Or maybe I will just cover it with tape.....

    dv9260us ultimate

    Thanks

Not that I know of, no.

And why do you want to have the light off but the webcam running?

put a piece of either black electrical tape over it or a piece of black (or silver if that is all ya got) duct tape over it...might not be purdy but it will work.

If im using it with software that takes stills and not video it blinks constently, and if you are in front of it gets distracting because it is pretty bright. I want to use it also for surveillance and that is a dead give away with the light on

I know why he would want to do it as I want to get rid of it too. The light is far too bright for when you actually want to look into the webcam, if it wasn't so bright I would quite like it as it is useful so you know the cam is on, but a it is now it is just plain annoying.

    Your webcam light blinks?

and if you are in front of it gets distracting because it is pretty bright.

I don't find mine distracting at all, but then again I'm not distracted by lights, and I don't find mine all that bright, so...

I want to use it also for surveillance and that is a dead give away with the light on

I wouldn't consider a notebook with a webcam built right in the best answer to surveillance.

probably wants to spy on someone lol

    Hehe, probably.

My mind at first thought of American Pie when I read this thread...
