These lights are quite annoying while in sleep mode. The left one continually blinks.

I just want them to go off when I close the lid, is this possible?

use a post-it note, electrical tape, or just put your machine in hibernate...

No... it's how it was designed... lights are there to indicate the status of something... else they wouldn't have put it there in the first place...

If you don't like the LEDs... just cover it up or put it in hibernation... or if you're technically inclined... you can take your notebook apart and rip the LEDs off...

I am sure there is some way around this. Anyone else a bit more technically experianced with the DV5T and its bios?

maybe you should ask HP? tell them you're annoyed at the 3 lights and ask them to take it off for you while they fix your buzzing sound problem... two birds with one stone...

There is no way whatsoever other than what was suggested in this thread.

And in the future, please do not start anymore threads but refer all questions to the DV5T official owner's lounge thread.

Not fussy. My laptop is next to my bed. This light is annoying. I usually only use sleep mode, and avoid shutting down.

I can understand if it's the lit HP logo... but it seems like you're the only person that finds those 3 lights to be an inconvenience... those 3 lights are dimmest lights on the entire notebook... most will just place something in front of it to block the light... heck, just turn in another direction... notebooks come with LED indicators... suck it up and deal with it...

you bought a $900 notebook, not a Rolls Royce or Bentley... learn to compromise...

Hmm.... a Bios to disable onboard lights. Now that would be a new "HP Invent" wouldn't it. :D

The way you say a bit more "technical experienced" makes it sound like the people who all contributed to your question are noobs... when the question sounds like the other way around lol.

I have never heard of any Bios on any notebooks that could disable onboard lights.

Those are novelty lights... doesn't really indicate anything useful other than showing off that it's an Alienware product...
