I read in the "owners lounge" that to turn off the touchpad on a dv7, you're supposed to tap the square box twice, but that doesn't do it for me.

Is there another way to shut the thing off. Everytime I'm typing something, my hand touch the damn pad and my cursor goes off to another spot in the document I'm typing.

    Very frustrating.

are you just tapping it or double tapping it?

as for now, thats the only way i know on how to turn off the touchpad.

i'll check the synaptics to see any other options.

    EDIT:

you can try configuring the sensitivity of the pad throught synaptics.

I'll try the sensitivity, but I have double tapped the heck out of the thing.

Strange. I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong.

there will be a OSD icon show up when the touchpad get disabled/enabled. So I guess you need to install the HP Quick Launch Software or the touchpad driver.

I think you have to double tap in the top left corner, there should be a small amber light that turns on when it's disabled.
