    Hello,

I was informed by a friend that using 5GHZ would be very beneficial to my surfining experience, and luckily I have a laptop that has dual 2.4 + 5GHZ (HP ENVY 14 BEATS).

However, I can't find online how to turn it on. I tried connecting to a 5GHZ connection in this public area I'm in, and I was unable to surf on it, which gave me the idea that it isn't already on all the time. Can someone help me out? Thanks.

'Computer management' > 'Device Manager' > right click on your wireless card > 'properties' menu > 'advanced'

Make sure its set to receive both freqs.

Double check that your router is dual-band, and check the router management page to ensure that it is broadcasting on both freqs.

And while your at it get us the exact model of your wireless card & router (if possible).
