well this was from my old thread concerning my decision on buying a new laptop and I thought I should start a new thread for it. Just a few final questions.

What changes can we look foward to for the tx2000? Im pretty set on getting that laptop. there as been alot of talk about the montevina platform however the TX series only uses AMD.. or are they going to start putting intel products in? Any news on them changing to better integrated graphics? Also I heard that hp is going to start putting backlight in their keyboard which isnt a big deal but seems kinda cool and could be worth waiting for because Im not exactly in desperate need for a notebook right this second... Im just afriad my comp will crap out on me in a few months from now

    also..

I noticed that the tx1000 was released early 2007 and the only difference between the is now and then is that it is now 300 dollars cheaper. if nothing is going to change on the tx2000 except for a few price slashes, shouldnt I go for it now because there is a 500 dollar coupon...

Yeah I would go for the tx200 because of the $500 reduction...

It now has an active Digitizer (you can now write with the pen and the screen will not detect you palm or fingers at the same time which previously was a problem with the Tx1000 where you write and the palm or finger moved the cursor).

You can still use your fingers to poke on the screen to close folders etc..., pen is just handy when you need to draw or write, making notes will now be easier.

The end of the pen is now an eraser.

    Battery Life is longer (presumably)

The cover has an imprinted design on it

    And umm... other changes

I've ordered mine in the UK already, its due for stock on the 14th so it shud arrive around the 16th at my door (Est Time Arrival on the site given on my order). It was £609 ($1220 'ish), its now gone upto £699, luckily i ordered mine erly!
It's the TX2050ea, which is like a highly spec'd out US version.

AMD is scheduled to update the Turion series with the Griffin/Puma platform...
    http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?sitesize=yes&i=2992

But given the current issues AMD are facing I would say this platform launch may or may not be on time. So, for now if you are interested in the TX2000, it would still be a good choice.

But if you want a Intel based convertible then have you looked at the gateway c series...

No idea how good they are but cheap Intel based tablets do exist.

better avoid Gateway models , they are acer's subsidery.

never buy acer , they are con-artist group not even a legal comany, sued by so many users and companies , including HP.

okay so what youre saying is that the tx2000 is probably NOT due for any updates for some time, more specifically the summer. There wont be any updates from now till then. The only changes we can see are the changes in price which in this case I should just go for it now because of the coupon right?

Oh I lol sorry I think maybe my original post wasnt too clear. I already know what the main updates from the tx2000 is from the tx1000. I meant to say is the tx2000 going to be upgraded again? to like a tx3000 or w/e. But I do appreciate the news on updates from tx1000 to the tx2000 cause i wasnt quite sure what the difference was.

Oh ya also just to get an idea, how crappy are integrated graphics? Will I still be able to play games such as warcraft 3?? Someone told me I will still be able to play half life 2 but just in its lowest settings... is that true?

That sounds right, it will run Warcraft 3 no problem and Half-Life 2 "decently".

It's not exactly integrated, its a dedicated Nvidia card, just a low end Go series, as the above post says, it will run them 'decently' just not maxed out settings
