Well, it looks like my nc8430 has shipped after all. Unfortunately, the other 1 GB stick for the laptop has not. BUT, at least I can get the laptop itself up and running!
hopefully, i'll get to post a review of this thing soon...any questions that people are really interested in getting answers to? will probably submit a review by Friday (9/22), assuming i get the laptop tomorrow or the day after.

Oh, neat! How much did you pay?
-
Amol...i PMed you that info.
BTW, ITS BEEN DELIVERED!!!!!!!!! -
Discuss fan noise when plugged in, please.
-
i will when i get it home...too noisy at work to hear anything.
-
Cool. I look forward to your review!
-
i'll say this: i'm certainly impressed!
and i didn't even need to do a full re-installation! -
I know. It comes with minimal bloatware, don't you think? When I got my lappy, all I saw on the desktop was Recycle Bin. The only preinstalled stuff was HP Updates and HP Credential manager, along with Norton AV, which came disabled.
And I love start up on mine. You hear the loud WHOOSH of the fans. -
hahaha...even Norton fails to slow down this computer!!!
-
MGS...do you have a "Eject PC" button on your start menu?
-
It's a beauty isn't it.....Enjoy
-
Errr. Eject PC button? Nope. I wonder what it does...
-
dual screens baby!!!
HP nc8430 + Dell 2005FPW = 2x (1680x1050)...hahahahaha.
okay...i need to calm down.
time to install oblivion. -
how is the keyboard and if u have used a thinkpad before how do they compare
edit: sorry I had to steal your avatar it was just so cool. -
I have the nx9420, and I'd say the keyboard is definitely close, but not quite there. I've only played with the keyboard a bit at Office Depot, and it's definitely softer than the HP Business line. It's sort of part way there. Better than the consumer line at least. The keys feel too short in the consumer line, and this definitely feels better. It's not quite there though.

thanks MGS i have had a thinkpad for 3 years and i just love it you know what they say "Once you go thinkpad, you never go back." I hope its good for me because I type a lot.
-
i haven't used a ThinkPad keyboard yet, but i do have to say that the keyboard is top notch. definitely more comfortable than my M140!
UPDATE: nc8430 SHIPPED!!!
