Nope, nothing else right now except for the specific models that I mentioned above.

Just making a guess, but I think the ENVY 4 is a 14.5"-ish model and the ENVY 6 is somewhere in the 15.6" to 16.4"-ish range.

exciting times. i was happy to hear about the xps 15, now this. can't wait to see the specs!

the downside of this is my laptop "short list" keeps growing... time frame keeps getting pushed out.

Looking to buy a new notebook this summer, and, a few gripes aside, I'm a big fan of my Envy 14. Good to know that there's a likely successor on the horizon. I'll be keeping my eye on this.

As good a guess as any.

Kind of weird to drop down to single digits, though. And why no "Envy 5"?

I'd guess HP is following their naming scheme with the current and upcoming Pavilion laptops.
    6 being a 15.6" screen, and 4 being a 14".

If they really are 14 and 16 inch models, you wonder how well they'll sell - that would give us 5 different Envy models at the same time (17 3D is really just a screen upgrade), in 14" ultrabook, 14", 15", 16", and 17" screen sizes. I'm all for choice, but they'd be cannibalizing their own sales, not a good thing for them or the consumer.

Then again, the new naming scheme might suggest that the 4 and 6 will be going in a different direction from current Envys. Probably a crock, though - HP's Envy division has always put marketing first.

Nice find Justin, and please keep us posted as to what else you dig up related to these new ENVY models.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess they're more Ultrabooks. I can't see why HP would release another ENVY 15 / 17 style machine when they were just updated. And Intel is promising to help push and market any and all Ultrabook releases ( spending more money than any other marketing campaign in 10 years), so why wouldn't HP ride the coat tails of Chipzilla -- make more of what Intel wants and get some free marketing dollars? Furthermore, Intel just said this week that 75 Ultrabooks are on their way and 50% of them will be 14" or more. I know Dell has a couple of 14" Ultrabooks lined up for the summer, Lenovo will be releasing a couple of 14" $699 Ultrabooks in June/July and then more later in the year. HP needs a nice looking consumer oriented Ultrabook under $1,000 and I believe these models will be it.

I might be wrong, I posted about this news here and linked back to Justin as the source, I guess we'll know in a month or two as more information becomes available.

Ultra book is just a fancy name. Many laptops are now being labeled "ultra books" despite not meeting all the criteria Intel laid out last year. It's a misleading effort to make people think they're getting something special on top of a notebook.

And... My guess would be something along the lines of either ultrabooks or gaming laptops..

i think this is just gonna be the renaming of the new envy designs. (the envy 3000s were prototype prolly to test the market). otherwise, if they were ultra books, wouldnt they go with thier naming of "spectre"? I really do hope its their gaming line :p

    Envy 4 probably a 14'' Ivy Bridge (?)
Envy 6 probably a 16'' Ivy Bridge like the old HDX line (?)
If that's true, where is the 17'' Envy 7 (?)

I'm guessing there is no 15.6" or 17.3" anymore (unless they add an "Envy 5" or "Envy 7" in the future).

If they incorporate dual Intel SSDs in Raid0 again, I'd be willing to try the 16.4" envy 6, which is not too much bigger than the envy 15, but still much more portable than 17.3" envy 17.

haha i wonder if they gonna keep the new design its pretty smexy :p

HP missing the part of the market where there is small size (portability), performance, and premium feel.

it has small size/weight in the folio and spectre. performance in envy 15,dv6,dv4(refreshes), premium feel in envys.

they need to create a 14 in envy (maybe envy 4 :p) that has 650m equivalent, good screen, premium features, good battery lfie, and not that heavy

the only downside to this is that if it is just the 15 in then that more than likely means it will stay the same design as it is now (which just came out so very very unlikely to change ) meaning not more gaming oriented :( with an odd.....

or it has a beastin amd card :D

If the Envy 6 is a 15.6" like the current Envy 15, then I'd say 50% - the vocal minority is upset about the color issue so that motivates them to get a different panel, but the silent masses just accept it as far as HP knows or cares. If it costs them more to change the panel, it becomes a tricky decision.

However, if the Envy 4 is a 14 incher, they'll be using a different panel in all likelihood, maybe not even IPS, so I wouldn't expect the same issue to occur there.

By "these laptops" I assume you mean the current-generation Envy 15 and 17? The Envy 4 and Envy 6 haven't even been officially announced as far as I know, there have just been some model numbers dug up to imply their forthcoming existence.

Sad face. That's been my biggest gripe with my Envy 14. Well, that and the fan grinding that started several months ago, primarily when running on battery power. If it's a 14 with any gaming capability at all, let's hope that it's 28 nm and runs at stock clocks rather than being a refreshed 40 nm card and/or gimped by the manufacturer. It wasn't just that the 5650m in the Envy 14 was gimped, but the cards themselves were lower quality, so half of the owners who tried overclocking couldn't even reach stock clocks without artifacting.

I think we've already seen some signs that they will be using the AMD 7750m, no?

It looks like it's comparable to the 6970m, according to notebookcheck, they are predicting the 7750m will be a bit faster than the NVIDIA 670m and 570m.

I'm interested to see what the full specs of these are. If they're simply renaming the Envy 14, 15, 17 then I'm at a loss. HP is taking their premium, poorly recognized (by the majority of the consumer base) laptops and rebadging them to make the naming more confusing? Labeling the laptops after screen size was at least descriptive. If this is just a renaming move then I hope HP follows through with an actual marketing campaign to sell these things. Other than the people on this forum I haven't met anyone that knows what an Envy is.

those are very early predictions with no hard evidence to support them :( i really wish they are true but prolly wont happen. they will be close to/alittle greater performance than 650m

lol thats kinda true. however this is what im thinking: they released the new envy's as prototypes to test out the market and see what bugs they had to fix. now they releasing them bug free (a dream :p) and hardware so we can actually call it a premium "high performance" (aka gaming) device (another dream )
