There is only two ways you can do this By either installing windows on your ssd and backing up everything on the hdd to the ssd (The Old Fashioned Way) or use the cloning method which avoids reinstalling windows and starting over. You would need a USB to SATA wire to do this but in your case you dont need this wire because you got the caddy and sata wire.

Make you sure you have your SSD plugged into your laptop into your laptop's 2nd sata slot. Heres a video telling you how to open your laptop to do this.

You would need to download a data migration software. Before using the program make your HDD's used space isnt bigger than your SSD. Once your OS and files are now on the SSD plugin your SSD to your laptop's 1st sata slot and everything should work!. You can use your old HDD as a data drive by plugging it into the 2nd sata slot but make sure you reformat it otherwise it wont work

    Good Luck!

so in the video(where i got my caddy) hes not using the SSDas boot, so i willhave to move my hard drive to the seconnd slot and put the ssd where the original went, do i have that right? also my laptop is new not much on it so i backed it up to an external should i stil back it t the ssd first as you suggested?

Depends what method you wanna do. The cloning method will make the SSD boot drive the without the need of reinstalling windows and reinstalling everything. It'll be like the same as it was on your HDD, After that you can safety reformat your HDD and move the SSD to the 1st slot and everything should work fine. If you still gonna reinstall windows, then the SSD will need to be in the first slot but leave your reformatted hard drive out until after you get windows installed on your SSD.

Ok one more small thing i got to bios and disk management sset up the SSD as boot and it shows it as such in "this pc" but when restarting it it show the HDD as boot PLUS its showing two other drives entirely
so i have windows C (boot) 1 TB HDD
    recovery D
    dvd
    windows H SSD
    recovery J(all red)
    Local disk J
Is this because i cloned HDD to SSD and then simply swapped sat1 to sata 2 and didnt back it up?

I told you to reformat your HDD as windows still thinks its still your boot drive.

Just to be safe remove your HDD and boot up to windows with just the SSD. If everything is fine you can safety reformat the HDD and use it as a data drive

I thought i did just that, im using aomei backupper and i cloned one to the other, then physically swapped them to thier individual SATA connects. In bios i can swap to ssd for boot, but then on restart it goes back over to HDd. please walk me thru one more time if possible, im backing up entire system to external drive now to be safe

After the cloning process you was supposed to switch the SSD to the 1st slot while leaving your HDD out making sure everything works. Your 2nd sata slot will never be used for a boot drive because windows will only boot from the 1st slot.

    Product Name: HP m6 w105dx
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
So...I simply try to install an M.2 SSD in my M6 order thee exact duplicate Hp would use, after it arrives I discover it has no M.2 adaptor in it, it has the slot but no adaptor, So I order a 1 tb evo 850 and while im in there I pull the motherboard to jack up the memory from 8 to 16 after cloning the origina HDD( i think where the prob lies) I install everything make a video on how to take out the motherbard etc. trun it on and ............ Nothing it doesnt boot no xcreen NADA the fan turns on and off a bit, but nothing, SO. I pull the SSD and re install the original and still nothing. I think I may have fouled up cloning the HDD i did it thru my M7 hp so to not have to reinstall the HDD. any thoughts?? Im dead in the water here.
