I recently purchased the HP Spectre x360 (core I7, 8 GB Ram) and I haven't gone longer then 8 hours without having some sort of issue with it. It started when I put it to sleep and it wouldn't turn back on, and the only way to turn it back on was to reset it. After resetting it and spending hours on the phone with HP, the laptop started giving me trouble to log in. It also froze on multiple occasions.

I then returned the laptop to Best Buy and exchanged it for the same laptop. I've had the laptop for 3 days and installed all the necessary updates and in that time period it has managed to crash, disconnect me from the wifi completely (even HP couldn't figure out how to connect it) and forced me to reset it. It once again froze on multiple occasions and it continues to give me trouble logging in.

I've never had this much trouble with any laptop, and this is by far the most I've spent on any device ($1100). My question is should I return this laptop (I'm still within the 15-day return period) and exchange it for a completely different laptop, or should I stick with this one and attempt to work through these issues?

And if I should exchange it, what should I exchange it for? I've heard great thing about the Dell XPS 13. My primary uses for the laptop are taking notes and watching videos (lightweight is important).

I know this is long, but I'd really appreciate it if someone would take the time to respond, especially considering that I only have a few days left to return it.

    Thank you

    Hi Elishapack,

I am concerned about the fact that you stated that "even HP couldn't figure out how to connect it) and forced me to reset it. )
Please let me look into your case further. If you could send me an email [email protected] with your HP case number, your serial number and contact information I can escalate your concerns.

Look forward to talking with you.

I would strongly advise returning the unit for now and waiting for more mature support. I am afraid when trying new devices specially ones redesigned Spectre 360 can be a struggle for early adopters.

If it had just been the one I would have called "lemon" but two different units... ? That's either seriously bad luck or you could have a some type of virus among your personal files. Although it's a long shot, make sure to run a full scan (McAfee is most likely delivered with all x360s...).

Mine (purch. 12th Aug) has been close to perfect (on Windows 10, latest BIOS ); I've never lost connection with my home WLAN (using A/B/G/ N) but I got dropped a few times at my GF's place (A/B/G only) - but that's hardly court-of-law proof of any issue (more factual, A/B testing would be needed). Otherwise, I'm thrilled with it and I'm also a former Dell XPS M1330 user. All standard apps (Office / Firefox / Chrome / Windows own multimedia apps) run quite smoothly, very satisfying.

I'm providing you with my personal experience seeing as you're considering jumping ship and I don't have any reason to believe the x360 has any inherent defects. ;)

Wow, very impressed! Good to know someone from HP's among us and looking out for us
