I have been having an issue with the 2 usb 3.0 ports on the dv7 and wonder if anyone else has similar issues and what you did to fix the problem. My problems are as follows:

    1. In one port I use a USB 760 Verizon wireless broadband modem and find
that I have the following two issues:

A- If I reboot with this device pluged in the boot process takes forever
and most of the time hangs and has to be powered off. One thing I
have noticed is if I disconnect the USB 760 Modem before reboot the
    computer boots up as normal.
    and

B- I have issues of the device going dead and not responding requiring a
reboot of the computer to get connected again.

    2. I use a USB wireless mouse and keyboard on the other USB 3.0 port and
find that the device also stopes responding at times and requires a reboot
    to get it going.

Anyone else having issues with the usb 3.0 ports similar to this? If so what did you do to resolve the issue? Thanks for any and all advice.

My USB 3.0 HDD will "disappear" if it sits idle to long but it doesn't require a reboot. I just unplug it and plug it back in. I just got my HP dv7t quad edition so I'm still learning about it. Maybe it's part of a battery saving setting because I have always been on battery when it has happened.

    Hello,

about problem #A - check boot order inside the BIOS, maybe the PC is trying to book from USB device before HDD

about problems #1B and #2 - check in advanced power settings and in device manager in device properties if the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked, if yes - uncheck it.

I hope this will help you. Post results when you try.

P.S. on my DV7T I have only two USB 3.0 on the left, the other 2 on the right are USB 2.0

    ^ good advice.
And since there is no native usb 3.0 support for win7 you have to rely on the drivers. Try checking for other drivers.

I am having issues with the front right USB 3.0 port not recognizing USB 3.0 devices. After it came back from repair, it now recognizes USB 2.0 but still does not recognize my USB 3.0 drive. I would like to know if anyone else has been having this problem and if they have been able to resolve it? I have already upgraded the drivers to the latest intel USB 3.0 driver with no luck. Using a seagate go flex 750gb drive and have already confirmed that the firmware on the seagate is at the latest version. Drive light flashes and O/S generates a pop-up that asks if I want to format the drive. This was one of the issues that intel stated was fixed in the lastest driver.

I used to have this problem, I ended up downloading the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller drive from Intel directly. Also make sure you have Intel USB 3.0 Monitor enabled in your Startup items. You can check by typing msconfig into the start menu search. I think the latter really eliminated the issue you described.

Thanks peidekun for the reply. I have already downloaded and installed the latest USB 3.0 drivers from intel and verified that the USB 3.0 monitor is enabled, however still seeing the same issue.
