I just received my DV9000t!!! However, when I reboot or wake my notebook up, I get the error message USB Device Not Recognized. I have tried to uninstall the usb drivers and reinstall, however I still receive the same error message. I have tried each USB port after the error message and they all work.
I am running Vista Home premium (pre installed) with 1GB of MEM and 120GB hard drive. Does anyone have any ideas on whats going on?

    Thank you.

Did you always have this problem or did it start recently?

For laptop USB problems completely shut down the computer, remove battery, and unplug it from the socket for 5-10 mins. Then plug it back in, re-boot it and see it it will recognize the ports.

If I recall correctly, someone was saying they get this message after using their webcam with certain programs.

Thank you for the quick responses. I have had the notebook for about 3 weeks. This started about 2 weeks ago when I used a USB mouse. I removed the battery, however I am still getting the error message. I have not tried to use the webcam yet.

Have you tried other USB devices? It might only be your mouse connection is loose.

After I get the error message, I have tried each USB port and they work. Im tring to figure out why I am getting the error message after I reboot or wake up the notebook.

Is your web cam working? Could be this, I have a similar problem with a USB device not being recognised and it is the web cam causing the problem.

In your situation the HP Quickplay instructions are a waste of time. If the web cam is not showing up properly in the Windows Device Manager under Imaging Devices this means that web cam device / device driver has not installed properly and thus will not be available to applications such as Quickplay. You will have to try to get to the root of the problem; why the web cam device driver is not installing properly. With my notebook (DV2166) I have noted that the BIOS level is part of the problem with my web cam (lastest BIOS version F22 which has Vista enhancements causes a problem). I have been chasing a solution from HP tech support, they have decided to take the notebook in for 'repair'. I am some what sceptical and I think this means they will just change hardware until things work. I still believe the web cam problems lie with the device drivers and or BIOS. I am happy to be proved wrong as long as I get a working web cam that's Ok with all applicable applications!

Thanks ratty, I was not sure where to look for the webcam. I went to Device Manager and did not find anything that said Image Device. I've had my notebook for about a month and I received it from costco. Would it be best just to take this one back, or do you think I will have the same issue with a new notebook?
