Hi I just installed Ubuntu, and The Mute button thats supposed to change colors, doesn't. It stays on orange and the sound wont work. When I press it, the system changes from mute/sound. but the light doesn't change and still no sound.

Does anyone know whats the problem?

i think that the sound driver is supposed to control that, but since you don't have the hp drivers for linux, you will probably not get it to work in linux

Nahh, doesn't make sense. Everything else works fine out of the box. why wouldn't the sound work?

Where would I be able to find sound drivers for linux?

wow i'm a little late in this thread... however. On my 6700t the button doesn't highlight either. However the button still functions as its supposed to.

Works fine for my dv2500, so does the remote. It was already automatically set up.

Ubuntu apearantly doesn't recognize the any of the quicklaunch buttons, but that doesn't mean you won't have sound. The wireless network button on my DV5Z is also permanently orange and I can connect just fine. I suggest you try the linux forum for more info

Works fine for me on my dv9700t. The quick launch buttons are recognized, and the mute button changes color. Are you using Ubuntu 8.04?
