Anyone put Ubuntu on a DV2000t series? Is it even possible? Any downsides? will any functions not work? I have an HD DVD player, will that still work???

dose the dv2000t have two hhd? if so you can dual boot vista and ubuntu. thats what i do, personally though i like vista a lot more. I didn't have to download any drivers and everything works fine. Would you dual boot xp the same way?

The DV2000 Series doesn't have a Dual HD option.

Yes, you can install Ubuntu without any problems, there are guides on how to do it. It will have to create a second partition in order to work, but when you boot into it, it will tell you to partition a hard drive. I can probably give instructions on how to do it, but I would suggest for you to google it first.

Regarding drivers, it will recognize all the hardware and install drivers for them automatically. I installed Ubuntu on my DV6700t and entering the OS for the first time it had every driver installed, even the mute button changed colors without me installing any special software.

ok, that was a question i had, on drive partitions. That's amazing that it loads all drivers no problem. :) How much space does Ubuntu need on a partition to install?

I run Ubuntu in a VM on a 2700 and it works very nicely.

Why do you run it on a VM?

Why don't you just install it.

Because I would rather have the option of running many different OS's and images specific to my needs.

Also, it is more stable, as well as more transportable. If the laptop pukes, I just move the VM to another one. Fast and easy.
