I still have an unknown device after reinstalling vista and updating all drivers.(as far as i know).

I've been trying to install as little of the software as possible(obviously else why would i reinstall OS?) So i'm thinking I'm missing something in there.

Any ideas would be helpful thanks in advance.

By chance, does your sound work? I had the same problem and it turned out it was the HD audio controller or something like that.

After I installed the (new) RealTek 1.84 drivers and Microsoft UAA, I right clicked on the unknown device and selected "reinstall driver" or something of that sort.
