    Hi,

Just got my new HP Pavillion dv5-1000 laptop and I'm very pleased with it so far, apart from one problem.

The machine came without any backup disks, which seems to be a standard HP thing. So I've tried to create my own disk using the Recovery Manager software. It goes through the first part of the process collecting files, but when it reaches 100% I get an error message saying that the files are more than 0mb and it can't continue.

I've tried using a different blank DVD but get the same message.

It's a pain, and is spoiling my enjoyment of an otherwise excellent machine. If anyone can suggest a way around this I'd be grateful.

I've tried this fix: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=333239 but the software doesn't install.

    Thanks.

I suggest (as had been suggested in the thread you mentioned) that you contact HP, and explain your problem. Request for a recovery DVD made by them, and they should send them to you at no charge. Persist if they try to tell you to send the laptop in, or if they try to dodge around this request.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yes that's the easiest option. I've just phoned HP Support (who seemed pretty good) and they acknowledged it's a common issue and promised to send a recovery disk.
