Hi everyone. I have a HP dv6519tx running Windows XP. Its running pretty well at the moment except for the battery life, which is really bad! Running Word 2003 and nothing else it lasts an hour and a half tops. I was wondering how I would go about underclocking the CPU and GPU to try getting some better battery life. Any suggestions?

I don't know about underclocking the GPU and CPU, but have you tried things like setting Windows to use Max Battery, dimming the screen, turning off the wireless card/bluetooth, turning off background software that starts at boot-up, running the system without a paging file to cut down on HDD access, etc?

It's not really underclocking, but the Core 2 Duo supports Enhanced SpeedStep, which should lower the clock speed of the processor when it's not under heavy use. Max Battery or Minimal Power Management will turn that on in Windows XP.
