Well I tried to use an older version but it would not let me. Kept saying a new version was out and to see the maker. I found on some boards someone having the same problem, but none addressed it. I hope that a new version of the program at some point will fix this. I still have so many things to fix on this laptop, this is just one on my list of many to improve an already good machine. If anyone sees anything post it.

Hi guys! maybe I get some help here
It looks like my t8100 is not working as it should under XP, the speedstep goes only from 8x to 10x, it has very short moments when CPUZ is showing 6x but only after full speed; most of the time it is showing 8x
Under Vista speestep it's working normally from 6X to 10X
RM CPU Clock it's showing the same.
I use XP with the last SP3 (beta) available
Did I miss something when installing XP??

6x is your idle multiplier, it will only go to 6x if there is NO load being put to the CPU. Something in the background is probably running causing it to use the 8x (1.6ghz) multiplier

Thanks, it's strange because usually XP is using less cpu, but still under vista the speedstep is more flexible so I can see often 6x (1.2 Mhz), under XP it's more stable, most of the time 8X(1.6Mhz) even if task manager is showing 0 or 1% CPU usage

Vista can utilize multi-core cpu's. XP can only do single core unless you have the patch. This might have something to do with it

Thanks. The patch for the multicore is installed.
I managed using the RM CPU clock to force XP to use all the multipliers and now 6x it's available.
The moment I exit RMCPU clock XP it's back on the old behaviour ; multipliers only from 8 to 10.5

Hi guys!
I'm "new"I finally got my Dell XPS 1530 with a T9300 Penryn and Im trying to undervolt it. For now it seems to run stable (tested with orthos) with following settings:
6x - 10x -> 0,925V
11x -> 0,95V
12x -> 1,0V
But im still testing the 10x-12x because i want them to be at least 12hrs stable under orthos.
But i still got some questions:
-Does the CPU produce more heat running with 10x and 0,925V than running with 6x and 0,925V? It seems so... but why? The Voltage is the same.
-Why did Intel set the lowest Voltage that high? It seems that the CPU could run on even lower Voltages...
-Is XP able to handle a Penryn like Vista? What disadvantages concerning Powermanagement do I have with XP?

I have also a T9300. Every time I try to enter the submenu of "profiles", as you can see the CPU stuck at 100% and I can not do anything with RM.

I have a T8300 and i undervolted my 12X to 0.95V with no problems so far

you cant. 6x multiplier is the idle voltage, this is locked in on purpose

although I can undervolt to a lower voltage than non-penryns...the changes in temperature aren't as drastic as far as I can see, since it started at a lower temp already -

You should be getting idle temps of around 40c and max temps of 65c ish -
right on! According to HWmonitor, I'm getting lows of 40c and max of 66c
rmclock usually has the temps 4-5c lower
just a quick question, does having a more powerful gfx card affect the cpu temp? I have a Geforce 8600m GT DDR3 256mb and its max temp is ~74c -

My 'idle' is 50 though!
How is everybody getting such low idle temps?
Mine barely goes down to the SLF 600Mhz most of the time.
I've tried turning off all the unnecassary processes, but still getting 49 idle.
Or do you guys have the 9 cell battery giving more airflow? -
Something is probably still running in your background unknowingly eating up CPU, thats why its not going down to superLFM idle

Yes I've done a clean install. It appears to be NOD32, with high read and write I/O. Would this happen with any AV program?
It's not too bad now, I have 41 idle.
I have a question. I've noticed that using the maximal performance mode, with no transitional cpu steps, gives better (instant) performance, as there is no lag time for the steps to increase. Is this true, or am I not understanding this properly.
If so, is there any disadvantage running at the highest CPU speed all the time when running on AC? (As long as the temperature isn't excessive)

Speedstep throttling is nearly as effective, its not 100% instant but the reponse is still fast and snappy -

I'm starting to work on undervolting my 9700t (stats in sig below) and already got one BSOD when I lowered it too low (but not even as low as some of you have successfully achieved with the same processor on the same laptop), so I'm wondering if I just don't have the balance right? I've never done this before, so I'd love some help, please.
In RMClock, when the grey icon starts turning red in places (I've got mine constantly switching from 25 to 100% red), is that bad/a warning? Does that mean I'm undervolting too much?
Here is what I'm going to try next, a bit higher than I was trying before, before I start it testing in Orthos, can you tell me if it looks reasonably correct?

I have a T9300. I'm trying to undervolt using 1.0125 for 12x , 0.9615 for 11x, 0.9500 for 2-5x and 0.9250 for 6x and SuperLFM
What do you think? Are those correct settings? -
There are no "correct" settings as each CPU will have different threshold voltages that it can go at in each multiplier. The only thing that you can do is test each multiplier that you want to use by allowing it to be either:
a) the highest multiplier used in the performance on demand profile
b) the checked multiplier in the performance profile
Then test with Orthos or Prime95 (2 instances needed for Prime). Be aware that BSODs can occur but to this date I haven't (and believe I won't ever) have damage to the CPU. Check out the undervolting guide for more info.

As notyou said above, there are no specific correct settings. If its rock stable then its correct.

Ok, here are my first results for a T9300 and i have some quesions.

i Got a total undervolting of .150 V and reduction of 13 C wich i think is good.
still i have to change ther rest of the multipliers
My questions are:
1.- After testing .9875 for 3 hours, should i keep this setting, or should i go to 1.000?
2.- If i keep one of these two, where should i start testing for 11X.?
3.- Where sould i stop undervolting in 9X? 8X? 7X?
4.- what sould i do with super LFM?
Thanks for your opinions, I know that each configuration is different, and no one can tell me exactly what t do, but opinions will be verry helpful to continue my undervolting.

1) I suggest setting it to 1v to make a margin on your unstable voltages. This way we know it will be even rock stable.
2) Rule of thumb, the lower the clockspeed/multiplier the less voltage it needs to run. So if 11x is 1v, you can undervolt the multipliers below 11x under 1v.
3) To make the most out of undervolting you can find every multipliers optimum voltages. This is a time consuming process going through each multiplier. If you want a shortcut, you can just set your 8x to 12x to 1v
4) SuperLFM is a supercool feature. It lets your processor idle at an even lower clock speed. I suggest ticking it and setting it to 6x so it idles at 600mhz instead of the usual 1.2ghz -

Could you post the CPU info page to. Im thinking some of us have different revisions giving us different stock values for that lower end. -
Yeah I'm running a T9300 also, and my lowest values are .95 for everything. I did get it to run for 1 hr. 50 min. or Orthos at .975 on 12x with no problems. Still getting max temps of 73, 74 C after that time though. Maybe a warm room has something to do with it. I might bump it up one just to be extra safe.

What were your temps before? 74c is kinda high for an undervolted penryn -
My old temps were 80, 81 C after only 10 min, so it is at least some drop, I just wasn't sure how or why other people were running so much cooler. My low end temps are around 44 C, but I haven't tinkered any with voltages for low multipliers, and Idon't think it is going into SuperLFM.

tried undervolting my T9400 and the lowest vid i can go for my highest multiplier is 0.950V any lower than it is being locked by intel.. since 0.950V is the lowest i suppose its safe for me to put 0.95V into all other multipliers ?
6,7,8,9.0x FID are all with 0.950V VID -

I have a question... Even when I run the Benchmark (Orthos i presume), my FID doesnot change from x6... I have a heating issue (in my XPS 1330 - i don't get any heat transfer between the fan and the heatpipe - oh btw they have a new generation mainboard) and the idling T is usually around 55-60 C, with my GPU idles around 85 C. The Orthos should hif the FID to x12 normally but my FID stays at x6 even if the CPU load is 100% do you have any idea why it stays like that?
