While the computer is booting up, press F1 repeatedly.

    Hope this helps!

    Unlock the Bios

To access (and change any settings that the Bios allows to be changed) press ESC at the POST screen and then choose the bios option.

You will find that the bios on most mainstream notebooks are very limited and don't give you many options like you would find with a desktop bios.

If you want to undervolt your dv5 I suggest you try RMClock or Notebook Hardware Control (NHC).

Sorry I've been really busy :) Basically all I have discovered is on another forum (not sure if I can link it).. try googling "finally a method to modify Insyde bios". Anyway it seems the BIOS is split into difference modules represented by GUID's. There are alot of modules so it's hard to know what each ones does since its just random bytes most of the time. Certain things that we know the format of though can be patched. I doubt things such as undervolting will be possible though without any major new discoveries. I've also got a hold of the official HP EEPROM tool which is used to modify the basic static things like serial number, licensing, model, quickplay/mediasmart etc on all of HP's latest laptops. If anyone wants this give me a PM. :)

Hope you realize that by doing this your are voiding your warranty and when you send it in it seems they care more about any possibility your might have voided it instead of fixing it.

Like if you mark your hdd with a pen or marker its accidential damage and costs $298 to replace.

There are people who don't care about warranties. Also there are people who don't even have warranties, like me. :p
