So basicely, i have some kind of spyware or adware or whatever. What happens is: I just surf on the net, and just randomly 40 to 60 blank pages appear out of nowhere. They all have some kind of codes on the url. So every time i have to close everything. I can't go on internet without having to deal with this.
I scan my Presario Laptop with adware, spyware and virus programs. I also delete cookies. After all of this, these 60 pages still appear. Is there something else i can do to get rid of this problem, or do i have to format everything again. because it would save so much trouble for me if i could fix it without having to format.
    Thanks in advance.

and download hijackthis.... it's not a virus or anything, its a diagnostics tool used to find spyware and stuff. upload the log as a post and I or someone else can look through and tell you most likely what is screwing your comp up

First download, nstall, update , and run Spybot Search and Destroy from here

    http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html

Then download, install, update, and run Adaware 2007 from here

    http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-20...045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5

Also it would be a good idea to run CCleaner just install it go to cleaner button then cheackmark all boxes in both tabs and click run cleaner you can get it from here

    http://www.ccleaner.com/download/

Once all that is done. Just to make sure it does not happen again install, update and click enable all protection with this program

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

To make sure you do not have any trojans/viruses run this and if it detects anything which it most likely will i would buy it.... i have used it for years and have tryed many others like it and it is by far the best and also my fav. software.
    http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

I have used this method to clean computers for years and it seems to work flawlessly :D all programs are completely free and have no bundled software

To go one step further you can open CCleaner and go to the tools button then to the startup button then google all the .exe files listed and if the description you get says it is not usefull then delete it

Edit: There should be no need for a hijackthis log or switching to firefox or opera as spybot and adaware 2007 should get everything and spywareblaster will keep it that way

I suggested useing kaspersky because the 40-60 blank pages loading is most likely a virus as i had it once before when useing a free/cheap virus scanner.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows! :p This problem doesn't exist on Mac OSX, Linux, etc. ;)

Some good suggestions in this thread. Avoid Internet Explorer and Outlook Express like the plague. Those two programs are like a welcome mat for viruses, hackers, and spyware.

I'm at work again. Yesterday my pc didn't help me out very much, i also didn't have a lot of time. What i was able to do was scan with adaware07, spybot and ccleaner. The job is not yet completed, hopefully i can finish everything today.

dont use internet explorer.... thats the cause of your problem.

download zonealarm or something and block internet explorer from accessing the internet. that way, even if IE windows open, the spyware/malicious code wont be able to "phone home"

i use firefox and IE, but i have no problems.

Since i posted this thread, i scanned the pc thoroughly with something like 5 programs for spyware, adware and virusses. My problem is completely solved, and if you're having similar problems, i truly reccomend yusky03's post for guidance. Thanks a lot man.
