Hi Guys,
Just found your website, hoping someone can help.
I am experiencing very hot temperatures with the Pavillion DV6000 to the point were it burns, specifically around the part were the hands rest.
I am looking to unscrew the laptop and clean the fans and any other dust that may be there.
Thinking this would be a simple job I unscrewed every screw I could see but the back would still not come off. Anyone know of any online guides that show how to unscrew laptop ie Which Screws First etc?
Any help would be appreciated?
Or if anyone knows a quick solve to prevent overheating, I would be very happy.
Cheers

Sorry guys think i just found it on your website

Think it looks a bit too complicated for me -
Here is also a link to the HP Pavilion DV6000 Service Manual(talks about the CPU fan/heatsink on 5-66). Difficulty depends on experience so...
Also take a look at the cooling guide ...undervolting your processor and using a cooling mat/Notebook Coolers will help but its not a subistitue for a thorough cleaning of dust from the CPU fan. -
What BIOS are you using? I had the exact problem as you running the laptop on F.29. I downgraded it back to F.16 and the laptop ran loads cooler (mainly bc the fan is running more often). If you're okay with the fan running a lot more and maybe a tiny bit shorter battery lifespan as a result, then you should consider going back to F.16.

I'll second the F16 Bios, I tried others and just keep going back to 16.

The HD is under the palmrest. See what HWMonitor says your HD temp is, if it'll read it. The CPU fan should have minimal impact on the HD temp.

Brianstretch, cheers for that tool.
Here are my temperatures at the moment. There are not many programs running, Firefox, Windows Messenger and WIFI. The system is also plugged in.

How do I check what BIOS i am running and if its not F16 are there any websites that I can download or that show me how to install F16?
Is their any side affects from going on to an F16 Bios?
Cheers all -
Ok just checked I am on F29 Bios 13/11/2007

If you go to the hp website you will be able to find navigate through the site and you'll eventually find the bios you are looking for. Where it says "version" next in the BIOS category, Click on that link and you will be taken to all the previous BIOS for the dv6000. F.16 should be there. Good luck and remember to follow the instructions. Flashing BIOS can be a dangerous thing and I myself have already had to send in my notebook once because of it. But if you follow whats written, there shouldnt' be any problems. Good luck!
P.S. - post your results. I had roughly the exact temps you got using HWmonitor. With F.16 everything dropped roughly 20C. Except for the HDD which dropped about 10C. -
Think, ill have to buy a cooling mat,
Downgraded to F16.
Still overheating.
Anyone any other suggestions? -
Overheating alot near touch pad and to the left and right of it. Specifically were HD area is

zalman nc2000.
and try blowing air into the fan using a can of compressed air. did that for my friends dv6000 and there was a ****load of dust. -

Here's a link to the HP Services Media Library for your dv6000, which gives you step-by-step videos on how to remove and replace certain parts of your computer. From there, you can figure out how to disassemble your notebook to clean it out.
Good Luck! -
Hi all,
Anyone any ideas since last post.
Opened up laptop as far as i cud for my level, cleaned abit of dust out but nothing significant.
Imr unning speed fan at the moment
GPU:61C
CORE: 65C
CORE 1:70C
Its usually about that mark but im getting worried about the damage im doing to laptop any suggestions.
Also im noticing the pin for the power supply isnt as secure as it used to be and im thinking this could be down to overheating. Its becoming a pain to charge, have to have cable a specific way.
Any more help is massively appreciated -
Also 100% sure im going to need to invest in a cooling pad.
Whats best online site to get one for a HP Dv6000, will have to buy online because im living in spain at the moment. -
If your laptop is still under warranty you should see if you can send it back and have them take a look at it or you can ask them to replace the laptop. Your dv6000 may have some kind of problem with the heatsink and it probably needs to get checked. I was never a big cooling pad fan so I'm afraid I can't help you with that.
