Hey guys, so I've seen a couple of these posted in the super long threads for owners but thought I should consolidate them here so people can easily see what's coming up very soon from HP. These spec sheets are up on their site prematurely (and hard to find) I presume as they are trying to clear current stock with giant coupon deals.

For the record, the dv4 is not confirmed as upcoming in the United States. It wasn't mentioned in HP's press release about the new dv6/7 and g-series.

Wow that new DV6 looks sweeeeeeeet.

Quad speaker, beats audio and a 100Whr battery. HOLY BATMAN thats a huge capacity battery for a sandy bridge platform with switchable graphics and in a 15 inch design man this thing is gonna pull serious hours of battery time

Bummed bout the resolution.....and backlit keyboard. But other than those two things the dv7 would be amazing.

But does this really indicate no backlit keyboard? It also doesn't mention the backlit trackpad and we already know that's going to be there.

Trackpads aren't as important as the keyboard so I'm not surprised that it wasn't mentioned...

Also on the PDF under the keyboard section it doesn't mention anything bout backlit as even an option. And on the other things it list options. Like say hard drive. It lists the SSD alone, various single drives, etc....

In a way I'm almost hoping it doesn't have a backlit keyboard because that will rule this computer out and make my decision much easier...

Same here...would you be joining the Envy owners then?

I'm looking at the new g4/g5/g6 line for a few family members. Those look quite decent for budge laptops. I'm wondering tho how much the cheapest dv6 will be....

Actually, no, I'm looking at Dell and Toshiba  Mostly Toshiba, since I sort of "already tried" Dell and that failed...

Toshiba is alright but their designs are little "too futuristic" looking for my tastes...

Despite my anger at them HP probably will always have me as a customer just cuz none of the others really measure up when it comes to laptops aside from Apple (and I suck at Mac OSX).

Does the refreshed DV7 offer a dual-band wireless card as an option?

If the DV7 had a 1080p resolution/screen with a backlit keyboard, I would have been all over that thing!!!! Too bad HP fumbled the ball..... I'm planning on getting the Envy 17 3D SB edition, but even there HP goofed a bit.... the DV7 gets 2x3.0 USB and the Envy 17 only 1! Wow, sad. Also, the Envy still has no fingerprint reader, ugh. Is that so hard to put inside a premium laptop?

fingerprint reader I can do without.

The only extra features I care about are USB 3, a SATA III SSD (preferably the new intel ones but I think it will still ship the old SATA II SSDs), switchable graphics and the backlit keyboard.

    No mention of a touchscreen.....

But if they remove the backlit keyboard...I'll probably pass on HP. I would have a hard time jumping up to an Envy and losing a 3.0 USB port in the process.

Finally got a response from HP about whether or not they are going to release the dv4 in the U.S.

I don't think "Fiona" really knew anything and the response was entirely unhelpful. I just thought the bold text was funny.

For better or worse I have jumped to the conclusion that it is probably going to be released in the U.S. with the dv6/7 for a few different reasons, anyway.

    (1)The dm4 is one of the 3 notebooks included in the 3-day sale HP is currently doing, the other two are the dv6/7 that was know are getting refreshed;

(2)the coupons that keep coming out work for the dm4 as well; and

    (3) this page says "While Supplies Last" under the dm4. I take that to mean they are clearing out the stock.

    My best bet, No.

They stopped offering dual band customizable option in the dv series pretty much almost a year now.
Only can find them in retail models, if lucky.
