So I updated the drivers for my Go 6150 using the device manager and the Windows Index Score went DOWN from 3.0 to 2.4. I thought this was odd and rolled back the old drivers. Anyone have a similar problem? I hope this doesnt happen to my Go 7400 I ordered.

Check to make sure the nvidia equivalent of "max battery" isn't turned on w/ AC adapter. I had a similar problem with an ATI driver and that was the fix.

I think its safe to say that the drivers for Vista are still very raw, especially video drivers. It seems like everybody is taking a graphics performance hit with Vista, no matter what gpu they have.

Anyway, did rolling back to the old drivers return your score to 3.0?

Yea I'm back to 3.0. Not sure if there's an actual performance difference though.

As I rule I only recommend getting drivers from hp.com. Microsoft's Windows Update driver updates often mess things up. Exceptions are made for minor things like monitor drivers.

well i wouldnt consider the performance index that vista has as anything accurate. I mean if u consider the 6150 had a score of 3.0 then what of the 7400 and 7600 that score around 4 or 5 yet in real performances they are so much better and faster at games and the like. i think both nvidia and microsoft are tweaking the drivers and performance index scores to get more solid readings

I'd just get modded drivers if I were you. Lots of NVIDIA modded drivers out there, and you'll get better performance (and maybe a better WE Score).

I'd definitely test it with something like 3dmark. I have a desktop machine identical to my friend except he has a different Mobo. Mine allows me to run the RAM at 800Mhz, his @ 667. My Windows Experience rating for RAM - 4.7, his 5.4. Everything else identical scores.

My 3dMark score is 20% better than his. My games run better too. WEI can be so inaccurate
