i want to update my drivers for my nvidea 7600 go card in vista premium. What is the MOST STABLE driver of the recent ones to get. i would also like some type of control panel the way there is in xp if that is possible. with my default drivers the control panel is missing. i don't know if that is vista or something HP did. I currently have 9x.xx driver

Well, it's somewhat hard to qualify the most stable part, but, at the moment, Nvidia's drivers seem to be getting both faster and more stable with each release. The FULL Nvidia control panel only exists in the very newest driver releases also. Previous drivers only had limited control panel options.

I recommend using the 158.18 driver set from www.laptopvideo2go.com for Nvidia cards right now. They perform quite well, and have been rock solid stable on my system (running Vista-64). Everything I've heard about the 32-bit driver has been equally excellent.

To use the driver, you need to first download the driver, then extract it. Then download the modded .inf file (to recognize mobile GPUs) and replace the original .inf with that. It's relatively painless and there's more complete directions in the gaming forum here if you need them.

    Hope that helps.

if they are, can you give me a direct link to both the dirver and inf as when i go to the download section the highest is 100.30

Sorry, guys. I didn't notice their site went down. That sucks.

You can get the 158.18 driver from http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_158.18.html . Use WinRAR to exctract that to its own directory.

You'll then need a modded inf. I modded the inf to include notebook GPU support. You can grab it here. Extract the inf file to the directory you extracted the driver files to, replacing the original inf. You should then be able to install as usual.

Hope that helps. Post back if there's any problems.

I have tried just about every driver from both laptopvideo2go and tweaksrus. So far they offer a small improvement in term of frame rate. 3dmark05 score went from 3240 (stock driver) to about 3440. I have a fairly demanding HD video clip that just does not play well in Vista regardless of what driver I put in (it plays fine in XP though.) Whenever there is some fast movement, there is ghosting and the edges of objects appear jagged. Does anyone know how to fix something like this?
