    Hello all:

Considering buying a Zbook 17 G5. They have an MXM slot, does anyone have any experience with tinkering with these? I've looked at several different sources and can find info on the Zbook 15, but its GPU is soldered (or is MXM A only) whereas the Zbook 17 has the MXM slot and can handle full MXM B cards.

    Hi,
Zbook 17 G5 is indeed mxm 3 type B. Whereas the 15 G5 is all BGA crap.
IIRC HP introduced a whitelist of vbios in the sbios on the 17 G5, that's why all the mxm cards is this model do not have any bios chip soldered, as the vbios is embedded in the system BIOS.
HP did a U turn afterwards and put back BIOS chip on the quadro RTX cards that were sold with the next zbook 17
