    Upgrade Bay Hard Drive in HP Advanced Docking Station

    In the 2008 HP Advanced Docking Station, there is an Upgrade Bay slot where you can insert a hard drive into it. I'd like to know if the SATA connection actually works as expected instead of converting to a USB interface.

    Yes I can confirm it is a native SATA connection on the 8530w. You can even have RAID on it, a special Intel RAID mode where it automatically mirrors one of your onboard laptop drives whenever docked. Actually, it works exactly the same as the onboard eSATA port (on the 8530w at least).

    That's great news. Now, I can't decide if I should place an additional hard disk or optical drive in there.
