I bought the Compaq x1000 notebook last summer, and have already outgrown the 60 gig HD. Has anyone upgraded theirs? What would I get, and can I put it in myself?

I'm not familiar with that model, but swapping drives was easy on my HP zv5000z. You're not going to find drives that much bigger than what you have, but try this:

Seagate has 100GB 5400RPM drives on the way but I don't know when nor whether you'll actually be able to buy them at retail. 100GB 4200RPM drives are currently available but... they're 4200RPM drives. If you really want a really high capacity drive, I'd wait a month or two and see what comes out. -
Being a proud owner of the zt3000, I have found the resources over at the x1000 forums to be very helpful. You can visit them at http://www.x1000forums.com/
