Hi. I searched around the forum and saw similar topic being discussed. Some have suggested it may work since it is a motherboard/software feature. However, has anyone actually tried a upgrade and can confirm whether it works with certain models or not?
    Thanks.
Alternatively, if people can post the manufacture and model of the stock hard drive here, we can try to sort out whether only some hard drive models are used.

It still works with my new HDD. I currently have it running with my 7K200. The limitation is that it only works with the internal HDD, it doesn't apply to any external HDDs.

Thanks for the info. It seems like 7k200 doesn't have any special sensors. Hopefully this means any drive will work.

I'm pretty sure that's the case.

The sensor is on the motherboard. It does not rely on the hard disk as HP sources hard disks from various manufacturers.

I hope the hd sensor and mb sensor won't interfere with each other like having 2 antivirus programs.
