I know 3 is sufficient but to keep Dual Channel I figure for the price of DDR2 these days and since I am paying shipping once then order 2x 2GB sticks of RAM.
I could add 1x2GB to one of my 1GB to have 3GB, sure, but chance of not keeping DC. Its unguaranteeable from what I gather with differnet brands, and so on.

Question is, I have Vista Home Premium 32bit. I have read here and there over and over about 32bit not seeing 4GB. I have read other places that say Vista 32bit does see only up to 4GB. Will I see 4GB on my laptop, because I have dedicated graphics memory with nVidia GPU?

Other question is, if it does see/use all 4GB then is it worth buying 4GB? I read that in Performance Monitor it shows how much RAM you use. People say if it never hits 2GB then no need to upgrade from the 2GB and all that. But if you have 4GB physically installed, then does it help make the laptop do stuff quicker just for the simple fact it has more room to manouver memory with more RAM? Know what I mean?....even if its only 1 or 1.5GB used as applications open and Google Earths open already (Thats eats RAM)???

    Thanks again for your help.

With Vista SP1, you will see 4GB. But you will only use up to 3.2GB. That's a function of 32bit addressable maximum.

As for 3GB, it'll be asynchronous dual channel. No real performance hit as compared to synchronous 4GB.
