First off, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.
I am planning on purchasing a Compaq R3000z within the next few weeks, and I was curious about possible upgrades in the future. This will be my first notebook, so upgrading on is very foreign to me. I've heard that you can't upgrade video cards in many laptops, is this generally true? Thanks in advance.

It is not possible to upgrade your video card. In 99% of current computers you can't change the video card it is made just for your model. In the R3000Z you can change the hard drive, ram, and cpu. Nothing else can be changed. You might be able to add wireless internet later but I'd suggest getting what HP provides the Wireless card for this computer is very nice and has great range.

One additional item you could change, the optical drive. You can pop a DVD burner into it if it doesn't already have one. Just need to pop a few screws out and swap the drive. You just need to get the correct dimensions of your current optical drive. Also, the correct fasceplate for the drive would be a nice thing to get. Usually they're provided by the dealer.

yeah I forgot you could change the drive out, its just not ment to be changed. Just like the cpu isn't ment to be changed but it could be.
