    Hello

I thinkg its time to upgrade my processor. Well I asked this about my friend but he was more knowledge about desktops combonents so I decided to come here and ask here if someone can help me out.

    So firstly some notes:

    - I don't know much about desktops.
    - Current processor: Processor AMD Turion(tm) II P540 Dual-Core Processor, 2400 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
    - And laptop is: Hp Dv6 3050so.

Okay I have checked AMD processors site here.
AMD Processors for Notebooks: AMD Turion? 64 X2 Mobile Technology, AMD Athlon? 64 X2 Dual-Core, Mobile AMD Sempron? Processor

And I saw my processor there.
    View Detail TMP540SGR23GM AMD Turion™ II Dual-Core Mobile Processors P540 2400 - (18. from top)

So there is options what to choose left side:
    Socket: S1
    Manufacturing Tech (CMOS): 45nm SOI
    Wattage (W): 35 W
    AMD Virtualization Technology: Yes

Does it so simply so that there is all changeable processor there. Or is here more thinks to know?

My friend talked something about socket in my emoboard or what is that in english.

Overall my english is what is it. So dont keep attention about it too much. Just want to know how I can upgrade my processor or is it even possible.

    Regards. Atk-Pasi

I can't say I have any idea about AMD CPUs, however what I can tell you is that not many programs will see much of a benefit with a slightly faster CPU.

What programs are you using on your computer where you want to upgrade the CPU to increase performance?

List of some compatible CPU's here

Then CPU benchmark list to give some hints.

I wouldn't replace CPU unless it would provide some significant benefit: Underclock/undervolt for cooler operation and longer battery life.
    Overclock for extra performance.
Features not available in current CPU (virtualization).

Replacing the CPU for something like 5% performance gain isn't really worth it unless you can source replacement CPU from another computer for free.

And don't worry, rally-english works just fine and google translator is pretty good tool :p
