Hi everyone,
My broither has an Envy 15, 1021tx, it has 8g of ram and the service manual claims it has 4 memory module slots, yet, I see only 3 in the digrams, one in the battery bay, and 2 inside on the left side.
How can we put it to 16g?, it makes no sense.
Also, he was confused, and thought his Env 15 could take 2 hard drives like the HP Envy 17, and wants me to put in an SSD with the 500g spinner he has, but it now turns out these only took the one 2.5" sized drive or 2x 1.8" SSD drives, and I have not seen many 1.8 size SSD drives, I have looked at getting a 120g Patriot SSD, which is 2.5", so if I install that, is this going to mean I have to put the 500g spinner in an external eSATA enclosure? or maybe even a USB3 enclosure?
I think the eSATA is better for the secondary drive, where he will store the data, and OS and programs on SSD, is this making sense?
Sean.

Hope this helps:

Btw: It makes perfect sense to have the SSD as your boot drive and application holder, and the old hdd in an eSATA enclosure for use as an external hdd for data. -
Thanks for your reply, I will find his experiences helpful when I do the HDD.
What about the RAM? Anyone got any ideas? why am I only seeing 3 module slots, yet the laptop is stated as having 16g capacity, and 4 memory module slots??
Is the battery bay slot for 2 sticks? It sure does not look like it?
Sean.
