I've had this DV5200 CTO for over 5 years and it still runs great, especially after a 2gb RAM upgrade. Now it is definitely time for an HDD upgrade. It currently has a 40Gb Seagate ST94813AS ATA device, which I believe is a SATA-150 drive. Am I limited to install another SATA-150 drive, or can I install a SATA 3.0 G/sec drive? I would really like to get a 500gb drive.

I searched this forum for the same or similar question, but I didn't see any thing relevant. Thanks in advance for any help.

You can use a SATA 3Gb/s (SATA-300) hard drive, but it will just go at 1.5Gb/s (SATA-150) speeds instead of the full.
