    Hi,

Im thinking about upgrading my HP DV6 hard disk at some point in the future. I only have the machine in March but it is the only factor that slows my laptop down (I get a 5.9 instead of a possible 6.5 in the windows experience index). The hard disk is a plentiful 750gb but has a 5400rpm.

Are there suitable disks out there ? If its still a bit expensive If it is I will just leave it but it is the only thing I have left to upgrade (bar the screen). What do you think ?

cool thanks hockeymass.. I already have 750gb at the moment so I would try to get at least 1tb at 7200rpm.

Unless you are going to SSD, I would wait. You certainly have the space. A 5400 rpm HDD gives you Windows index of 5.7 A 7200 gives you 5.9. With the size of the platters, all you will gain is a bit better access time. I would save my pennies and get an SSD at some point

yep im in the same boat, and have decided to wait and by a SDD once a decent size is cheaper, and plan to have the SDD as the primary drive and keep the regular HDD as a secondary drive,

    oh ya i have a dv7t, and i think i have 2 HDD bays :)

    anyway heres a video

    Add a 2nd HDD / SSD to HP dv7t 6000, Quad edition dv7tqe - YouTube

If you plan on doing the SSD + HDD, a 64GB SSD will be fine for OS + Apps.

You can get a decent 64GB < $80 these days, maybe even less. I know the Kingston V+ 64GB frequently goes on sale for about $70-80.

having a 2 drive solution is not a option for the dv6 right ?

Yes, if you replace your optical drive with a hard drive caddy.
