What the title says. I want to upgrade to a cooler harddrive in my dv9000t because the thing runs too hot, even with the F.16 Bios. Thing is though, besides the actual installation of the hard drive, I have no idea how I should do it.

I know I could get an external HDD case to put the new one in and then transfer, but I've also heard that when you replace a HDD, you have to go through some kind of riga-mor-oo with Windows and the Windows Disc so that it will allow you to use the new drive. Thing is, I have an Express Upgrade, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Could anyone give me a guide that would not be over my head on the general hard drive switching process and then also tell me what I need to do on the Windows side of things?

    BACK UP YOUR DATA!!!
    1. Remove your old HDD
    2. Install your new HDD
    3. Use the Anytime Upgrade to install the version of Vista that came with your machine.
    4. Call Microsoft to activate said machine. (Most annoying part)
    5. Install programs
    6. Transfer data, either from the backup you made or from your old HDD.

I dont see why you shouldnt, the process is fairly simple; all you need is a HDD cloning kit to transfer everything then you are set.
